Chanel Vitalumiere

As I have said before I really started to get interested in make up in my first year at university. All the girls around me always took ages to get ready but they would come out of their rooms looking amazing while I just wore my day time make up with extra layers of Benefit Benetint on my lips. I looked at them fascinated how their skin always looked beautifully glowy and perfect. That is when I ventured out and bought my first proper foundation.

I headed to Selfridges in search of a foundation. The first place I stopped at was Chanel. I told the saleswoman I wanted a light foundation for dry skin and she suggested Chanel Vitalumiere. She applied it to half my face and I was in shock how amazing it looked on my skin. I asked to borrow her mirror and rushed outside to closely inspect my skin. This got me lots of strange looks but I didn’t care I was delighted how it beautifully blended into my skin and looked like my skin but more radiant. I decided then and there that there was no point of looking anymore I was in love.

I would say that foundation is for dry skin. It is a liquid foundation that is oil based. This was a big worry for me, as I always had issues with acne. It was mild but it still was a constant worry of mine that it would return. Luckily this foundation never made me break out. The coverage is in between light and medium. It gives a dewy finish and it is very hydrating. It is extremely easy to blend with fingers or a brush. I like to use a Real Techniques Stippling Brush to really work it in my skin. I love the packaging. It comes in a 30ml sturdy simple glass container with a pump. One pump is the perfect amount for your whole face, which means you won’t end up wasting any of the foundation.

It is perfect for the days when your skin is looking dull and you want to perk it up. It evens out all the redness and most imperfections on my skin. However I still use a concealer when under my eyes and when my skin is acting up. After setting with powder, it lasts ages on my skin. I will usually apply it in the morning before university and when I get back my skin still looks radiant.

It has SPF 15, which is great for the day however it’s not the best foundation to wear at night, as your face can look ghostly in pictures. Sadly I learnt that the hard way. It is expensive at the price of £34 but I personally think it is worth investing in a good foundation which suits you. Apart from that I can’t praise it enough I am constantly recommending it to my family and friends. I wear the shade 20 Clair that at the moment is slightly too light for me but once my tan fades I can go back to wearing it.

What’s your favourite foundation? I think the next one I want to try is Nars Sheer Glow or the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation as I keep hearing youtubers/bloggers rave about it.

  1. I have a tiny sample of this, and I really like it! I save it for very special occasions though. I normally don't wear foundation, but this is definitely one I'd consider buying!

    1. Well I think you should enjoy not having to wear foundation as long as possible! I wish I didn't have to wear foundation as nice as this one is!
