Milan Fashion Week Favourites

I loved the London and New York shows. However the Milan collections made me want more than just pretty pastels and flowers for the summer. It's is a really big deal (to me anyway). You know the drill here are my favourite picks for spring/summer '14...

Dolce & Gabbana

If you loved the autumn/winter 2013 collection by D&G then you will love this summer collection. Like the previous collection it was inspired by Sicilian culture. This time it was drawn on ancient Greece. There was enlarged gold coins, sepia photographs of temples and theatres printed on clothing and lots of flowers. There was a lot of gold and black. In a word the collection was just glamourous(I know that's two but 'in one word' sounds better!).

Steak 'N Art

The other day I was dragged to visit a couple of art galleries with a promise to go Goodman after. I am the first to admit that I know little about art. To be honest I have never been extremely interested in art in general. Surprisingly by the end of the day I realised I actually enjoyed myself. Anyway I am getting ahead of myself lets start at the first place we visited.

Emmys Favourites

I love award shows. I never actually watch them but I love watching the red carpet. I could spend the whole day watching E! Live on the red carpet. I like to pretend I am on fashion police and do my own commentating. Its sad I know! Anyway I thought I'd compile a list of my favourite looks...

Keirnan Shipka in Delpozo- This was the perfect dress for her age. I think so many young people at award shows dress much older for their age (Modern family girls I am looking at you. They looked lovely at the Emmys but I think they should have worn something more young and fun). I love how she kept her make up simple with a bright pink lip and big brows. This is hands down my favourite look from the Emmys.

Surviving University

Starting university is extremely nerve wracking for everyone. I am in my third year and I still feel slightly nervous. Each year is a complete unknown. I feel like every year of university is different. I think the scariest year was first year. I wish I had known what to expect it may have slightly helped with the nerves. Here are some tips for surviving your first year so maybe this with help with your nerves slightly...

LFW- Part 2

Here's the second part of my London Fashion week favourites...

Burberry

This has to be my all time favourite spring/sumer 2014 collections. Well so far but I am pretty sure this is my favourite show of the season. I may be a little biased since I am pretty obsessed with Christopher Bailey. Watch this link and try not to be. Anyway I feel like this collection was made for me with its pastel Ladurée macaron colours. Is it weird this collection made me hungry? Never thought I would feel that way after a fashion collection. The colour palette wasn't the only reason why I am in love with this collection. I love the mix of cashmere, lace and jewels. The coats had to be my favourite part of the collection from the iconic trench coats with a lace twist to the tan oversized overcoats. There was a romantic feel to the whole collection. Christopher Bailey described this collection as an english rose garden but sexy at the same time. Isn't this collection just perfection?

Primrose Hill

I thought I'd do a different post today and show what I did the other day. You know how I blogged about London's bipolar weather and that I was finally accepting that the sun wouldn't resurface for a while? Well the other day the sun actually came out! Just when I got over it go figure. Now if you live somewhere hot you probably think this is not a big deal. However us Londoners jump for joy when there is even a little bit of sun. It's extremely rare here. Now where do I go when the weather is good (well slightly)?!

LFW- Part 1

Since I got some lovely comments from people saying they liked my NYFW favourites I thought I'd show you my London Fashion Week favourites. Once again I'd like to emphasise I am not a fashion expert I am just picking what were my favourite collections. This was really hard for me to cut down into two posts. I was going to do three but I thought it may get annoying/boring to read. Anyway here's some of my favourite collections shown in London. Enjoy...

Peter Pilotto

Peter Pilotto used the most incredible palette for this collection. There were various shades of blue and coral. I think the colours are very aquatic. I can imagine seeing these shades down in a coral reef or something. The collection had a mix of futuristic and floral prints with inserts of lace. I loved how a lot of volume was created in the clothes by using structured skirts and wide sleeves. Even though the clothes were voluminous it didn't look manly and overbearing due to the colours and prints which kept it more modern and feminine.

The Pizza Cheat

Sadly I can't live off of cookies and cake. I'd happily would if calories didn't count. Now this recipe isn't exactly healthy. However I am pretty sure its healthier than Kinder Kookies at least. This is one of the quickest and easiest recipes ever. Now I am not even sure if this would even be considered as a recipe since its so simple. I just tastes so good that I couldn't not share it with you all. Its basically the easiest homemade pizza recipe. Now you probably think this must be some recipe where you have to make the dough and ingredients from scratch. Well if you have read any of my other posts then you'll know I am all about cutting corners. I hate spending hours in the kitchen when I just end up finishing my food in a third of the time it takes to make. Sadly microwave meals just don't cut it for me. All I want is amazing food which involves minimal cooking and cleaning. Is that too much to ask for?!

NYFW- Beauty

Rather than writing a long winded description (Yes I do realise I talk...err...well write too much) I thought I'd just let these incredible beauty shots speak for themselves. I split them into different categories of my favourite beauty looks for the New York Fashion Week shows. Enjoy..

London's Bipolar Weather

So it has finally hit me that summer is over. I know its a bit late to realise this. I was a bit in denial and hoping all these london showers would end soon and it would go back to being warm and sunny. I know I was being delusional. To be honest I like the cold. It means I can wrap up in my knitwear and feel all cosy. The one issue I have with this change in weather is the rain. One minute it will be chilly but sunny and the next it will be pouring down with rain. I have lived in london all my life and you would think I would get used to the bipolar weather but it still drives me crazy. The weather was so frustrating I just decided to stay inside all day. I know most people can't just spend the day inside and hide out from the rain so I thought I'd show my essentials to surviving london's showers.

Cane + Austin Acne Pads

As I have mentioned before I had acne and I still once in a while will break out. There was a lot of trial and error to figure out what worked for my skin. There were a couple of things which helped get rid of my skin issues. I may write a entire post on what worked and didn't work it if anyone is actually interested. However one of the main things which helped were the Cane + Austin Acne Pads

NYFW- Part 2

Heres the second half of my favourite looks from New York for spring/summer '14...

Milly by Michelle Smith

After falling in love with Milly's autumn/winter 2013 collection I was extremely excited to see what their summer collection would be like. Boy was I not disappointed. The collection is filled with brights, mesh and Japanese and Hawaiian prints in feminine hourglass shapes. However my favourite look has to be the leather dungarees with a mesh top underneath. I need to get me a pair!

NYFW- Part 1

Even though I am not a fashion expert I thought I'd show some of my favourite spring/summer 14 looks from New York fashion week. I thought I'd put it all in one post but there were too many to choose from so I decided to split it into two.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham always delivers. Her clothing was always divine but they never really appealed to me. I always said 'thats how I want to dress when I am older'. The clothes always seemed more appropriate for well dressed working woman. This collection is a complete change. Her designs are younger and more fun. There are lots of flirty frilled skirts and the clothing is more body conscious. Even though the collection is quite feminine, through boyish tailoring a touch of masculinity is added which I think makes it more young and fresh.

XOXO Gossip Girl (Back to School)

I know I am pretty late for the back to school posts but here it is anyway...

When I was younger I only wore a uniform for a bit before I changed school. I used to hate wearing a uniform but after watching gossip girl I realised how amazing your school uniform can look with a few alterations. You no longer have to feel that you are wearing the same old boring outfit everyday.

Chanel Vitalumiere

As I have said before I really started to get interested in make up in my first year at university. All the girls around me always took ages to get ready but they would come out of their rooms looking amazing while I just wore my day time make up with extra layers of Benefit Benetint on my lips. I looked at them fascinated how their skin always looked beautifully glowy and perfect. That is when I ventured out and bought my first proper foundation.

Kinder Kookies

I cannot cook at all. Until a few years ago I had never even cracked an egg (I'm 21). I am pretty hopeless. Anytime I try to cook anything it’s usually ends up going wrong. One of the few things I can cook are cookies. I know that’s not much of an accomplishment since they are pretty idiot proof but when I make a batch, which actually tastes good I secretly feel like Delia Smith in the making. This is coming from the girl who somehow messed up a store bought mix of Betty Crocker chocolate chip cookies. They came out of the oven looking like a very thin layer of brownies. I still don’t understand how that happened they went into the oven looking perfect?! Anyway now I can finally successfully whip up a quick, simple batch that tastes heavenly! Rather than using chocolate chips I throw in my favourite chocolates, which is Kinder Chocolates.

Wardrobe Essentials: Top 5

When I was younger I used to spend all my money on whatever clothes were "on trend". Every season I would end up rejecting everything I bought the season before because it was no longer fashionable and spent more money trying to keep up with new trends. This also ended with me with a mismatch of clothes and me late for everything since I apparently had nothing to wear. Eventually I realised I had been going at it all wrong. I have now tried to create a wardrobe for myself which is filled with clothes which I like to think are timeless. I still like to spend my money on whatever grazia or the other magazines/blogs are telling me to buy once and while but I try to make sure I have lots of staples in my closet.

Here are my top 5 items I think everyone girl needs in her closet. These are the items which you can throw on with pretty much everything. They are prefect for the day when I am in a rush and I don't want to think up an outfit. Thats why usually when I have these items on it means I have "missed" my alarm and need to throw something on. When I say missed I really mean I thought 5 more minutes in bed was more important than wherever I had to be. I know you know you all do it too...

I apologise for the excess amount of black. In my defense black goes with everything and who doesn't look good in black?! I did add a few extras in the end which I think really pull outfits together and add a pop of colour.

           1. The Striped Top

Striped t-shirts always remind me of french girls. Heres a not very well hidden secret about me: I desperately want to be french...
