Cane + Austin Acne Pads

As I have mentioned before I had acne and I still once in a while will break out. There was a lot of trial and error to figure out what worked for my skin. There were a couple of things which helped get rid of my skin issues. I may write a entire post on what worked and didn't work it if anyone is actually interested. However one of the main things which helped were the Cane + Austin Acne Pads

In the green tub there are pre-soaked sheets. These little sheets are soaked in Glycolic acid (5%) and Salicylic acid (2%). When I bought these I didn't know really anything about ingredients. The sales lady jabbered on about them while I just nodded pretended to understand. I have now done some research in case any of you were wondering. According to what I have read these are the only acne product available with pharmaceutical grade Glycolic and Salicylic acid in one treatment pad that you'll get without going to a doctor or dermatologist. Now this is coming from the actual brand so I am not sure if this is entirely true anymore but from what I have seen I think it is (Correct me if I am wrong please!).

The Glycolic acid chemically exfoliates the skin (don't be worried its not as invasive as it sounds) and preps it for the Salicylic acid. The Salicylic acid helps reduces blemishes, blackheads and it generally heals the skin. It has vitamins and anti-oxidants which protect skin from free radical damage. Also it has witch hazel which tones and tightens your skin.

It claims that in the clinical trial done by a third party, 100% of people experienced a decrease in blemishes and agreed this treatment improved their acne. It did for me and everyone I know who has used these. For me most of my skin had cleared up at the end of the week. 90% agreed their skin looked radiant, luminous and healthy. Again I have to agree with that. My skin was completely transformed by these pads. My skin had never looked so good. Experience up to a 31% reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. I can't comment on that since I don't have any lines or wrinkles. I have to warn you guys these tingle a bit which can be slightly uncomfortable especially in the beginning. I have an extremely low threshold to pain and I could handle it so I am sure you can too. Anyway I kind of like it when it tingles since it feels like its doing something.

The way I used them is that I swipe them over my entire face (not your eye area) after I have washed skin. After I tried to let it soak into my skin before I moisturised my skin. I don't know if this worked better or not and when I was in a rush I didn't bother doing that. I just felt it would work better that way. I used to use them twice a day when my skin was terrible. If you are planning to do this I can't emphasise how important it is to wear an SPF during the day. There are some  great lightweight ones so you really don't have any excuse. After a month my skin completely cleared up so after that I just used them in the evenings.

The acne pads come in a pot of 60 so if you use them twice a day they will last you one month. They are pretty pricey at £48 but to me I'd rather take care of my skin and spend less on clothes and make up. Well I TRY to spend less on it anyway. I have read online a lot that people cut the pads in half and they last twice as long which I am definitely going to do now. I don't even use these pads all the time now. I will use them every other month or so. However I do always keep an unopened pot (they will dry out if you keep them on the shelf too long!) with me at all times just in case I get a terrible break out. Anyway I can't recommend these enough and if you do use them I hope you get as amazing results from these as I did.

As you can probably tell from the pictures my current pot is almost finished so I may try an exfoliating toner like P50 or Pixi Glow(if I can actually manage to get my hands on it) to see what all the fuss is about! I'd love to hear if you have any products which get rid of your break outs. I am always on the hunt for new and maybe even cheaper alternatives to keep my pesky breakouts at bay!
