NYFW- Part 1

Even though I am not a fashion expert I thought I'd show some of my favourite spring/summer 14 looks from New York fashion week. I thought I'd put it all in one post but there were too many to choose from so I decided to split it into two.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham always delivers. Her clothing was always divine but they never really appealed to me. I always said 'thats how I want to dress when I am older'. The clothes always seemed more appropriate for well dressed working woman. This collection is a complete change. Her designs are younger and more fun. There are lots of flirty frilled skirts and the clothing is more body conscious. Even though the collection is quite feminine, through boyish tailoring a touch of masculinity is added which I think makes it more young and fresh.

Calla

I have never heard of Calla but after seeing this collection I am definitely going to keep an eye on them. I'd say there was a young beachy vibe to the clothes with a modern twist. The collection was filled with bright neons and clashing patterns which you can never go wrong in the summer time. The neon skater style dresses are the highlight for me.

 Alexander Wang

Alexander wang has really achieved the perfect symbiosis between masculine and feminine shapes in this collection (If you can't tell I like the whole boy meets girl styling). The colour palette is mainly blacks, whites and greys with some blues and pink. There is a mix of mens shirts, cropped tops, jacquards and laser cut leather. My favourite things from the collection are the logo tees and the way the shirts were styled. Funny AND clever what more could you want?

 Kate Spade

I have never really noticed the clothes at Kate Spade before. I think its because it's not that well spread across london and it just was never a brand which stood out/was on my radar. I really like this collection of theirs though. It is quite mismatched with metallics, prints and bold colours but the one thing the clothes have in common is that they have a 60's vibe to it. I'd say the collection is really for the girly girl which is usually not my thing but this collection is just so cute I can't not like it!

Marchesa

The one word which pops into my mind when I see this collection is 'romantic'. This collection reminds me of a fairy tale with it's floaty feminine shapes. I love the mix of lace, floral embroidery and sheer fabric. It really creates a dreamy sensual romantic feel to the clothing.

So what do you think of these looks? What were your favourite collections from New York?
